DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://edw2010.wilshireconferences.com/sessionPop.cfm?confid=38&proposalid=2185\nSemantics and information systems is not a new combination, but the emergence of new semantic technologies and semantic web standards is providing tremendous impetus to a new semantic discipline and changing the relationship between "semantics" and IT.\nThis presentation will introduce the Semantic Web and explain the key concepts and standards that make up the semantic web stack, including Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the Web Ontology Language (OWL). You'll discover how these provide new building blocks for a semantic infrastructure. \nWe'll also introduce the concepts of Description Logics (DL) and Open World Reasoning ? Semantic inference is a major departure from constraint and template based environments such as relational and object oriented development environments. We'll also introduce how queries of semantic data are made via the SPARQL query language.
